Front Choke Defense: Preemptive Combatives (Yellow Belt)
A choke can quickly render you unconscious or worse. Of course, if you recognize someone attempting to choke you, you could preempt the attacker by using a lower-body long-range kick, an upper-body counterattack, or deflecting the attacker’s hands as the attacker reaches for your throat. Longer range combative kicks usually work best:
To deflect you can simply slap his arms down as he reaches for your throat. Note, the L deflection works well (learned at the orange belt level).
